Top 5 Snacks for Weight Loss and Sprouts Farmers Market Grand Opening!
Before I dive into my Top 5 Favorite Snacks for weight loss, I want to talk about the new Sprouts Farmer Market grand opening that I went to yesterday!
Sprouts opened in Herndon, Virginia and I got a tour of the gorgeous new store! Their produce really stood out to me as it seemed to take up most of the store. In front of the store to the left you will find loaves of bread, cookies, and muffins. As you walk further along you will come to the deli and seafood section along the walls. In the middle, you will find the bulk items including candies, nuts, and even spices that you can measure out and buy as much as you need.
As you further back into the store, almost the last half of the store, you will see their large produce area. To the back left wall side of the store you will find the dairy section. Here I saw yogurt made out of almond or soy milk which I had never heard of before! I noticed that the eggs were organized by how the chickens were raised or if they had soy in them which I thought was an amazing idea. The left front side of the store has a large variety of vitamins, makeup, and body care items.
If you missed out on their grand opening deals, you are still in luck because they are still running deals this week. On October 5th, the first 200 customers that make a purchase will receive a coupon booklet for five free deli items! The next day, October 6th, every 15th customer will receive a coupon for $5 off a purchase of more than $15 to use on their next visit. I spend about $30 for a week’s worth of groceries so this is amazing!

1. Cucumbers
Cucumber is my first favorite snack for weight loss. I swap cucumbers out for chips which is my biggest downfall. If you can make a list of your favorite unhealthy snacks and then make a column beside it of a healthy swap, this will help you start to change your bad dietary habits! My favorite thing to put on cucumbers is hummus.
2. Peppers
My second favorite snack is green peppers cut up into slices. I also put hummus on this and eat it in place of chips! Chips are definitely my number one favorite binge food. I like to cook peppers in the frying pan and put them in veggie wrap sandwiches. In the veggie wrap sandwich, I include peppers, hummus, boars head bacon slice, radish, and celery.
3.Celery
I have come to really love celery as I have grown older! I’ve been eating it for years, probably since middle school, but didn’t enjoy it as much as I do now. So as another tip to making a list of foods that you might overeat, I also suggest trying new foods that you may not have liked when you were younger!
4.Radishes
You may see a running trend here, but I really love radishes because I also like to pretend that they are chips. I like to dip these in hummus or vegetable dip as a healthy snack. As I previously mentioned, I like to add these to my veggie wrap sandwiches and have them for lunch or dinner. Radishes add some crunch and a little bit of flavor.
5. Spaghetti Squash
One of the coolest vegetables I’ve ever cooked before is Spaghetti Squash. If you have not already tried this one out, you should go get one from Sprouts tomorrow (especially if you love pasta!) All you have to do to cook this one is take a fork and poke some holes into it. Then you will microwave it for about 4 minutes. Then I let it sit in the microwave for a few minutes to cool off before I take it out and cut it in half. Once you have cut it in half, you take a fork and scrape out the Spaghetti Squash (remove the seeds) and put your sauce, spices, and cheese on it to serve! You can also bake it, but I tend to microwave when it doesn’t hinder the taste of what I am making.

Thanks for sharing. I have recently jumped into the Keto Diet movement and have had amazing results in just a few weeks. I have also noticed as you have spelled out, that eating healthy can get pretty pricey. Thanks for the tips and words of wisdom. This will not be my last trip to your site.
Thanks again,

We love Sprouts! This is a great list. Celery is definitely one of those snacks that has to grow on you. We like to juice it and drink it first thing in the morning. The taste is terrible, but it’s good for our guts!

I miss Sprouts so much! We recently moved from Colorado to South Carolina and they don’t have one here. It’s definitely a great alternative to more expensive places, like Whole Foods. The spaghetti squash recipes make for an awesome gluten-free low-calorie dish 🙂 Can’t wait to read more.

A woman after my own heart! I love chips too and if they are in the house they will be eaten! I also substitute veggies for chips and dip them in hummus. My next venture is making my own hummus. Even my 2 year old digs the veggies in hummus thing 🙂

Nice list. To be honest, pepper is my favourite. My wife plants them every year in our garden so we have our own and the taste is absolutely incredible.

Wow, first time I’m hearing of yogurt made out of almond or soy milk I’ll surely check out Sprouts. I love pasta but don’t know why I haven’t tried spaghetti squash yet. I might as well as I’m already on a healthy lifestyle journey.
