Pinterest Help! Top Three Mistakes People Make On Pinterest
Having trouble growing on Pinterest and need some Pinterest help? First, we need to answer the question of, what is Pinterest? Pinterest is essentially a huge search engine. It mimics Google, except for the fact that you are searching through images instead of URLs and website titles that are returned to you on google.
Not Having a Target Niche for your Pinterest Account
The first mistake that I see people making on Pinterest is not choosing one topic or niche to focus on. Choosing one topic to focus on will attract people to follow you who are really interested in learning about that one subject. Exerting yourself as an expert on a topic is by far the quickest way to grow. If you mix and match what information you are pinning about, people will not know what to come to your page for.
I have seen multiple people running fitness or online clothing boutique, yet they have boards on their favorite recipes, travel guides, dream house ideas, wedding inspiration pins, or anything but what they say their account is about.
For example, consistently posting about recipes will make a potential customer think about your page (which you might sell a cookbook on) compared to if you posted about a variety of topics mashed all together about fitness, fashion, beauty, and décor. This is one factor in what separates successful business accounts from small personal accounts. You may notice personal accounts are always usually small unless for example, you are a celebrity or public figure and people want to know everything about you and your life.
You are losing valuable Pinterest Account real estate when you are not optimizing your account on one focused topic. If you’d like to learn more about how to grow your Pinterest account for your business checks out my Pinterest eBook that walks you through how to set up an optimized account from beginning to end. Ditch making these mistakes and get a jump start by learning how to do Pinterest the right way.
Figure out what people are following you are and focus on that. If you don’t, it will take months or even years longer to grow.
Not Choosing a Profitable Online Niche
The second mistake that I see frequently is not choosing a profitable niche. You will not grow if you are talking about something a decent amount of people are interested in.
I’m not saying you can’t write about whatever you want online for fun, but if you are trying to make your online business full-time, you should start off by choosing a niche that will make you money. You can always compensate a less desirable niche for an amazing marketing strategy, but that will still only get you so far if people are not interested in the product you are selling.
What are a few profitable niches? Fitness, health, relationships, and how to make money online are a few super popular spaces to make money in. I don’t see these topics sizzling out anytime soon either. It is human nature to want to learn as much as possible about these niches.
Think these topics are saturated? People love to read the same thing, written differently, multiple times for it to sink in. Reading the same kind of information, said in a different matter, can help people put a different perspective on a topic. When they do this they can apply it to their life in a more meaningful way than the first time they read it. Be unique, be yourself, and you can touch the lives of people in your own way.
Not Automating Pins
Not automating Pins is the third mistake that I see business owners making with Pinterest. Many people think at the beginning of their entrepreneur journey that they can get away with manually pinning to a few group boards and grow exponentially. This is not the case.
Just like any other social platform, your content has to be consistently showing up. Tailwind comes in play to save you countless hours of manual work by consistently showing your pins to your followers.
Tailwind is an official partner of Pinterest. It allows you to easily schedule out all of your Pinterest graphics to hundreds of places on Pinterest (group boards) in as little as an hour a month. Scheduling out pins in this manner can lead to re-pins and going viral. What does going viral on Pinterest mean? It can mean thousands and millions of views on your blog a month to increase your advertisement revenue. Also, who doesn’t love their content being actually read?! It can also mean thousands of mailing list sign-ups where you sell a product converting into sales (hello revenue!).
