New York Fashion Week NYFW 2018
My first time to NYFW I’m very excited to share with you all my first year at New York Fashion Week, 2018! It was an enjoyable experience to photograph all of the designer’s work and models.
Traveling from Washington DC
My day started around 3:30A.M. , and got to Union Station around 4:30 am to swipe my parking panda code. I boarded the Amtrak train from Union Station in Washington, D.C. to Penn Station in New York around this time. If you are curious about costs, my ticket was about $200 round trip. Sleepy-eyed, I took an escalator right down to the gates. I was nervous I would miss my train thinking it would be hard to find, but it was super easy.
After a power nap on the train, I got off around 9:50A.M. , and started my 23-minute walk to the Pier where I got ready for my 3 shows (plus one extra one because I had a flashy camera with me, hehe).
The Shows at Pier Chelsea 59!
Getting to the Pier around 10:30 am, I was able to sit down and eat some breakfast. There was a fancy café set up inside of the building. I was able to get into an extra show because the security guards was really nice to me. What a nice treat for my first year, right?! Even though I was early and had been to one show already (the extra one I mentioned), I had to walk downstairs and stand in line for everything to start. I didn’t miss the show, so if you have to get back in line, don’t panic.

1. Custo Barcelona
If you’d like to check out more from Custo Barcelona check out their website here, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Youtube, and Twitter. SO glad I got into this extra show (MY FIRST SHOW, how special!)
My Take-Aways:
1. Silver Material
My favorite style and material I saw!
2. Embroidery Embellishments
I see this trend everywhere and I can’t seem to get into it. Love it or not, no one can deny that Custo Barcelona did an amazing job executing this style onto their very detailed string / frey jacket!
3. One Piece bodysuits
This is such a staple for any closet!
4. Dress or Two Piece Set and Jacket Combo
I think this is a great way to wear cute clothing you have from the summer and wear it throughout the fall while staying warm.
5. Metallic Pants
I was already sold on metallic pants before, but Custo Barcelona makes me want to buy more.
This multi-color sparkly dress was made for New Years Eve parties!

My Take-Aways:
1. Front-tie Jump Suits
I have a few front-tie outfits and I’d love to get a jumpsuit with it also.
2. Belt with Jump Suit
If you want to change the look of your outfit, try styling it with a belt!
3. High Rise Crop Pants
Give me all the high rise Pants this season! They work so well with my current body shape.
4. Pattern Jump Suits
I have seen a lot of pattern two pieces in the store lately, but I think we are going to start seeing more pattern Jump Suits. These will be great for the fall and winter seasons!
5. See-through Colored Sunglasses
These are so fun, I’m keeping my eye out for more colors and snatching a pair soon.
2. Jessture
If you’d like to check out more from Jessture check out their website here, and Instagram.
My Take-Aways:
1. Plaid Long Sleeve Shirts
These will always be a staple in my opinion!
2. Short Trench Coat Dress
I’m a fan of this style for going out and looking cute while you want to stay warm and dry (;
3. Neutral Colors
I’m loving the light grey top with the dark grey bottoms. You can never go wrong with this color combo!
4. Overall Tie Around Neck
A twist on the classic overall style, this is definitely a modern upgrade!
5. Ties
I haven’t gotten the chance to sport this look yet. What do you all think about the tie look? Leave in the comments below!
3. Dr. Zwack
If you’d like to check out more from Dr. Zwack check out their website here, Instagram, and Facebook.
My Take-Aways:
1. Fringe on Flowy Short Dresses
I like how this designer incorporated fringe with flowy dresses, it works very well and looks great in my opinion!
2. Slit Cut Dresses
Having a slit cut on any outfit kicks it up a steamy notch.
3. Halter Top with Bow-Tie
What a gorgeous way to incorporate a bow tie into an outfit!
4. Deep V-cut Fronts
This is also another way to add some boldness and flirtation to your wardrobe.
5. Colors!
I love designers who add color to their collection. You can never go wrong with power color Red!
The designer, photographed above, wearing a super fun hat with colored dots!
4. Niki Srinivasa

My Take-Aways:
1. Neutral colors with Black Heels

2. Stretchy Waisted Pants with Skinny Leg style
I’m going to be on the lookout for these in every single color haha They look so comfy! You don’t have to tell me twice to wear these.
3. Twill Fabric
I really like the twill look this season! It’s a fabric I have not seen a lot of in stores so I’m excited to try it out in an outfit soon!
4. White Crop Top over a Dress
I think this style works amazing for winter! You can throw any long sleeve crop top you have over any summer dress and layer up that way (with some pantyhose for added warmth)

Second Collective 2:00 PM
1. Caroline Perino
2. Caroline Smouse
3. Atalanka
4. C’est D – Doyeon Yoni Yu
5. Viktoria Tisza
This was my favorite designer of the day with these bold and unique outfits! I think fashion is all about standing out in a crowd, and these outfits accomplish that! I’d wear these to any huge event that I wanted to make sure I was noticed at:
Third Collective 4:00 PM
1. Lesunja
2. Daykeyla
3. Meticulously Eccentric
4. DM Jewelry Designs
I, unfortunately, was unable to get good shots of the jewelry pieces! Mostly because whoever was managing the lights for the event were changing the brightness in the room, making it hard to correct my camera settings as the models came out. This is the reasoning behind some of the other blurry photos as well. I’ve linked DM Jewelry Designs for you to check them out online! Below you can see a pair of their lovely drop earrings with black beads.
5. Megan Cannings
What Do People Wear To NYFW?
People wore EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. I saw flashy, sparkly, colorful, dark, head-turning, and bleak outfits. I even saw a few people wearing jeans. Were these expensive jeans, maybe, but probably not. My favorite items I saw were silver metallic fabric clothing.
Should You Go To NYFW Fashion Week?
A few questions to ask yourself before going…
What are your motives for going to NYFW? If you love fashion and want to check it out, why not! Be there to support the designers in any way that you can. This is the fashion designer’s special day that they have worked hard for!
Do you write about fashion? If you don’t write about fashion then I won’t suggest going to the small shows. For small shows, the designers want people there who are going to cover their designs and work.
Do you know what designers you’re interested in seeing?
Did you research who you’re going to go see? I absolutely recommend researching who you are going to go see and plan out your day accordingly.
All photos were taken by me.
