Road Trip to Idaho State Travel Guide
In this Idaho state travel guide, I visit and give details about parks, hot springs, delicious food and log cabins. This travel guide shows you some amazing things to do, tasty places at eat at, and where to get a restful nights sleep.
What to do in Idaho
Idaho has a wide variety of activities to do. In this blog post I cover a Park and a few natural hot springs that you can go to for free!
Crater of the Moon National Park
Craters of the Moon National Park was on my list because of a cave I had seen online. Unfortunately, that trail was closed and was not updated on their website. I would recommend going to the park if you are interested in camping here. Call ahead to make sure that the trails you want are open. It was about $20 to enter the park for the day. If you want to see these rocks for free, you can see them from the highway driving around it if you want to save some money and time depending on what your travel plans are! There are some great views in the park that are worth the fee.
Boat Box Hot Spring
The two hot springs listed in this blog post were very close, about a 10-15 minute drive from Redfish Riverside Inn (detailed in the hotel section below). The Inn actually told us about a few others in the area we only had time for these two.
All of the hot springs can be seen from the road which is really nice! You will want to wear tennis shoes or hiking shoes as you will walk down a steep dirt incline to get to any of them. Remember to bring a towel and put on sunscreen.
At Boat Box Hot Spring, will be able to fill the hot tub cauldron with a burning hot water hose. You can cool the cauldron water down with a bucket of river water. It took us about 20 minutes to add water from the river to the cauldron. You will also want to push the level over at the bottom of the cauldron to make sure the water fills up. It is on a first come first serve basis and is free to go to!
Sunbeam Hot Spring
I’ve always dreamed of going to natural hot springs since I saw them online, and Sunbeam Hot Spring help me knock that off of my bucket list. As mentioned this one was very close to the road. This is also made hot by pipes of hot water. There are some cold spots but over all it was very nice. You will want to watch out for sitting on hot rocks that can burn your skin. As mentioned as well, this was about a 15 minute drive from the Redfish Riverside Inn that I stayed at.

Wood River Inn
The Wood River Inn was very nice for a pit stop along our road-trip and the beds were very comfy. The bathrooms were unique in that they had a heat lamp installed. They also provided free breakfast that was set up cafeteria line style where someone served you what you wanted. The beds were super comfortable and stylish! They also have a pool and hot tub area, as well as many outdoor lounge and fire pit areas.

Redfish Riverside Inn
The Redfish Riverside Inn was the cutest log cabin inn! It was right on the river which gave us the soothing sound of running water. The hotel doors and windows close so that you can’t hear the load running water. The room I stayed in had double queen beds, a dining table, fridge, stove, sink, coffee maker, and microwave. There is no breakfast, so you will want to bring your own snacks, meals, or eat at Papa Brunee’s Restaurant. There were plenty of outside seating on the deck to hang out or eat at. I will definitely be back here when I visit Idaho again!
